Ontario Nature is happy to formally announce an extra 13,000 hectares of protected and conserved areas now contributing in the direction of Canada’s goal to guard 30 % of all lands and waters by 2030, often known as the 30×30 goal.
The 30×30 goal represents a nationwide and worldwide motion to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by way of well-connected, equitably ruled pure areas that respect Indigenous territories and rights.
Whereas nationwide and provincial parks and conservation reserves mechanically depend in the direction of the 30×30 goal, lands owned and managed by native governments and conservation organizations should first be assessed towards the pan-Canadian standards to depend.

Pure areas that have been submitted to the goal symbolize a mosaic of habitats which are necessary for biodiversity, reminiscent of valleys, wetlands, meadows and forests. These areas are sometimes nested inside sprawling city areas and provide biodiversity the essential habitats, corridors, meals and relaxation stops they require.

Municipal Protected Areas Undertaking
Ontario Nature is a part of the Municipal Protected Areas Undertaking, a nationwide coalition working to help biodiversity conservation at native and municipal scales throughout southern Canada.
